Pink strawberry popcorn monster balls with candy eyes

No-bake pink popcorn monster balls turn crisp popcorn and marshmallow into a bright Halloween treat with a soft strawberry flavor. White-chocolate drizzle and uneven candy eyes give every ball its own playful monster expression.

The color comes from freeze-dried strawberry powder with only a small amount of pink gel color if needed. This keeps the flavor recognizable and avoids a heavily dyed finish.

Why these popcorn balls work

Melted marshmallow binds the popcorn without becoming hard, while butter keeps the mixture pliable. Strawberry powder adds tartness and absorbs a little moisture, helping the balls hold their shape.

Ingredient notes

Use plain popped popcorn and remove any unpopped kernels. Grind freeze-dried strawberries into a fine powder. Lightly oil gloved hands before shaping because the warm mixture is sticky.

Shape the monsters safely

Let the mixture cool until it can be handled comfortably but remains flexible. Press compact balls rather than squeezing tightly, then add the chocolate and eyes after they set.

Success tips

  • Sort out every hard popcorn kernel before mixing.
  • Keep the heat low when melting marshmallows.
  • Shape the balls while the mixture is still warm.
  • Add candy eyes before the drizzle fully sets.

Substitutions and variations

Freeze-dried raspberry powder works equally well. Use lavender or mint gel color for a different pastel monster palette. Dairy-free butter and coating can make the recipe dairy-free when labels are verified.

Storage and make-ahead

Wrap the balls individually or store them airtight at room temperature for two days. Keep them away from heat and humidity so the popcorn remains crisp.

Frequently asked questions

Why are my popcorn balls falling apart?

The marshmallow mixture may have cooled too much before shaping. Warm it briefly over low heat and press the portions together while pliable.

Can I make them smaller?

Yes. Make 20 smaller balls and use fewer candy eyes on each, keeping the serving size consistent.

Description

Soft strawberry marshmallow popcorn balls decorated with white chocolate and playful candy eyes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 10 cups (80 g) plain popped popcorn
  • 4 tbsp (57 g) unsalted butter
  • 10 oz (283 g) mini marshmallows
  • 1/3 cup (16 g) freeze-dried strawberry powder
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp (1.5 g) fine salt
  • 1/8 tsp (0.6 ml) pink gel food color, optional
  • 6 oz (170 g) white chocolate, melted
  • 40 small candy eyes (about 28 g)

Instructions

  1. Line a tray with parchment. Place the popcorn in a very large bowl and remove every unpopped kernel.
  2. Melt the butter in a large saucepan over low heat. Add the marshmallows and stir until smooth.
  3. Remove from the heat and stir in strawberry powder, vanilla, salt, and pink gel color if using.
  4. Pour over the popcorn and fold gently until evenly coated. Cool for 4–5 minutes, until safe to handle but still flexible.
  5. Lightly grease gloved hands and shape the mixture into 16 compact balls. Place them on the prepared tray and let set for 20 minutes.
  6. Drizzle each ball lightly with white chocolate and immediately add two or three candy eyes.
  7. Let the chocolate set completely before wrapping or serving.

Notes

Do not compact the balls too firmly; gentle pressure keeps the texture light while still holding the shape.
